This blog is new to us, new to the foodie realm and probably new to you. Why not start with 15 questions only Pancakes and Protein Shakes can answer. Let’s really get to know the guy behind the Instagram posts.
What is your favorite phrase?
- “You already know.”
What is your second favorite phrase? (Question asked per request from Pancakes and Protein Shakes.)
- “What do you want to eat?”
What is your favorite meal of the day?
- “Breakfast, it’s not even a f#*%!$g question.”
What is your drink of choice with breakfast?
- “A latte with almond milk.”
What do you look for in the ultimate “go to” brunch spot?
- “I look for a diverse menu. I always look for pancakes made with unique ingredients or interesting toppings. Besides pancakes, I look for a menu that has sustainable and locally sourced ingredients. I also research the restaurant to see what the atmosphere is like. Ambiance is huge to me.”
How do you feel about upscale dining vs. casual dining?
- “Good food is good food no matter where it is served. I don’t really care if it is in a basement or a beautiful dining room. It is about the quality of the ingredients. I’ve had awful food served in an upscale restaurant and incredible food served in a hole-in-the-wall bar.”
Why do you use the hashtags you use in your posts?
- "Because they pertain to what my page is all about and they help other users find my page and follow along with my food journey. Plus, every good foodie page has a signature hashtag. #THEPAFoodie"
Describe the ultimate pancake.
- “A stack of buttermilk pancakes with crispy edges, a BUTTERY shell and a light but dense interior. I like my pancakes loaded with flavor. I truly believe a great stack of pancakes won’t need syrup, but as for toppings, I’m down for anything.”
If you could pick your last meal, what would it be and why?
- “For my last meal, I would start off with a stack of buttermilk pancakes and a glazed sprinkled donut on the side followed by a small pizza pie, some sort of mega burger and knafeh. I would choose this as my last meal because it’s food I mix together regularly. Oh, and I would need fried chicken with some kind of milkshake.”
If you could travel to any city in the world for food, where would it be?
- “Philly. No doubt. I’m so loyal to Philly, it has been a food destination for me for years. I’ve had some of my best food experiences here and the Philly food culture keeps growing.”
What is your favorite food topping? Tell us something you would put on anything.
- “Oh syrup. Syrup goes on everything. I always put syrup on steak and eggs in the morning. I also like a number of unique sauces. I put sauces on everything too.”
Do you eat crazy meals like this all of the time? How do you stay healthy?
- "No. I really only go out for big foodie meals on the weekends. It's important to find balance between indulging in delicious crazy foods and staying healthy. The gym is also a huge priority to me and I work hard to maintain a healthy diet so I can eat like a monster."
What criteria do you use to rate food you share on your Instagram page?
- “I look for presentation, hearty portions and interesting flavors found in every bite. That’s all I have to say about that.”
What would be your advice to someone on the hunt for a good foodie spot?
- “I honestly determine my next food destinations with a simple Google search. Google lets me see what places are the best in certain areas and cities based off of reviews. After I get a good idea of what my options are, I go right to Instagram to get a visual of what the food looks like from each establishment. Instagram helps me a lot with determining what restaurant I’m visiting next.”
Any last words of wisdom you'd like to share with readers?
- "Follow along on my page. It's going to be a crazy journey that has only just begun!"
