How to: Eat More Whole Foods

When it comes to chooosing a donut spot, is there really any way to go wrong? For me, most likely not. That especially holds true when we are talking about NYC donut spots. The one in the spotlight today is the "Doughnut Plant". And yes, the spell donuts like "doughnuts", and my opinion, there is a special place in hell for people that do that. Funny thing is, if they went to hell, I may just follow. This is because their line up top to bottom, inside and out is absolutely LOADED. Their cake, yeast, and cream filled are all top notch. their production message: "Delicious, high quality ingredients. Organic when available. Seasonal flavors. Handmade fresh daily. No eggs, no trans fat. No preservatives." That alone has me in the door. Mark Isreal (owner) started whipping up these bad boys in 1994 in his apartment on the Lower East Side by himself while using his grandfathers legendary recipes. He would be delivering these to specialty shops for the next 6 years, before opening the flagship store in 2000 on Grand Street on the Lower East side. fast forward almost 20 years with multiple locations all over NYC, the Doughnut Plant goes down as one of my favorite shops of ALL TIME. Pictured below is their Wild Blueberry cake doughnut, and it is to die for. A lot of my NYC trips are due to my need to re-up here and fix my cravings. This is a bucket list location in the world of donuts so don't sleep on any opportunity to try.
