"Wanna Stop in Here?"

Updated: Apr 28, 2020

So on paper, picking a 97 degree day to walk the entire city of Providence Rhode Island may have not been the best idea. However, this decision worked out in our favor in so many ways. For starters, the city of Providence itself is incredible, but this blog page is about the food and experience surrounding that. After parking in Providences's version of "Little Italy", walking all the way to the bridge in East Providence, eating every donut in sight, and walking back; we were ready to eat some real food. Soaking sopping wet, we came across "Tony's Colonial Food Market" and really thought nothing of it until Alissa and I looked at each other, and simultaneously said, "lets go in.". So we did just that.

We didn't know a damn thing about it. It wasn't on our list, and I honestly planned to walk right by it for the air conditioned car. I'm so glad we disregarded all of that and went in. Now I'm no Italian, but this seemed like some shit that was ripped right out of our Italian market in South Philly. Meat, cheese, pasta, oils, vinegars, this place had it all. Hidden in the back behind all of those imported Italian products was the "deli counter". Guess what we were in the mood for? A chicken cutlet with mozzarella and balsamic on a hose made roll. We got just that, and it was phenomenal. Something to note, don't look at these people weird. As I was in here, I deadass thought I was at a mafia hangout. These people mean business, and they love what stye do. You could feel it. This place is something you don't want to miss on your next trip to Providence Rhode Island.
